Secure eBooks have extra requirements that
have to be fulfilled before a customer can download them. These usually
include a requirement to have the latest version of the reader software
installed on your computer, and to have it "Activated". Activation is a
process that ties the eBook to your computer/device, so that it can't be
shared with other computers.
Getting your computer set up
correctly to download high-security eBooks can be a quick and easy process,
but it can also be frustrating. It might even
take a couple tries before it works.
The good news is, once you have
it working, you'll be all set for any future eBook purchases - you won't have
to go through it again.
The purpose of this security is
to make sure people can't give away free copies of their eBooks through email,
or offer them for free on a website. Publishers and authors feel better
knowing their work can't be stolen.
The security level of each eBook
is set by the publisher, and the security system is controlled by the
manufacturer of the eBook reader (Microsoft, Adobe, etc). eBookMall is not
able to lower the level of security, and we don't have any control over the
process of obtaining the latest readers and Activating them.
However, we are trying our best
to make this inherently challenging system as easy as possible.
When you order an eBook that has
special requirements, like the latest version of the eBook's reader software,
you'll get a direct link to a website where you can download that reader to
install on your computer.
If you need to Activate your copy
of the reader software, you'll also be provided instructions and links to get
that taken care of.
Once you've got it all set up,
you can then return to our View
Orders area to get your eBook.
