FAQs about Gemstar eBooks / Rocket eBooks
Q: What is a Gemstar eBook?
A:
An eBook that can be read on an eBook device made by Gemstar - our eBooks are specifically made for the RCA REB 1100 model.

Q:
Gemstar has announced that they are no longer going to be selling Gemstar eBooks. What about you?
A: eBookMall will continue to sell our Gemstar eBooks as long as there is demand for them. However, we predict that publishers may not be interested in publishing new titles as Gemstar eBooks since the devices are no longer for sale.

Q: Which Gemstar eBook devices are your eBooks made for?
A:
Our Gemstar eBooks are made for the Rocket eBook device and the Gemstar RCA REB 1100. Those two devices come with "eBook Librarian" software that lets you transfer a file from your computer to your device. However, if you have a Gemstar eBook that did not come with the eBook Librarian software, you can use Gemstar's Personal Content server to upload titles to your device.

Q: You mention the 1100 model, but what about the 1200 model?
A:
Our Gemstar eBooks will not work on the 1200 models.

Q: What is Gemstar's Personal Content server?

A: This is a service Gemstar has on their website. You login to the Personal Content area, and then you are able to upload files from your computer to their server. Then, you can download those files into your Gemstar eBook. Any support for this service should be directed to Gemstar. Go to Gemstar's Personal Content Website

Q: How do I load eBooks onto my Gemstar eBook / Rocket eBook?

A: Use the "Send Title" function in the eBookLibrarian software. If your eBook device did not come with the eBook Librarian software, you should be able to use Gemstar's Personal Content server to send eBooks to your device.

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: The rechargeable nickel metal hydride battery in the Rocket eBook will last about 5 years with moderate use before it needs replacement. The battery is replaceable without replacing the entire Rocket eBook.

Q: How does the Rocket eBook handle page numbers?

A: The Rocket eBook will calculate pages on each title depending on the font style, size and page orientation chosen. Because these factors make paging relative, the same title on different Rocket eBooks with different settings will have different page numbers.

Q: Can I save my notes, underlines and bookmarks to my computer when I finished reading my book?
A:
Yes.

Q: Can I change the fonts, font sizes, and styles used for my RocketEditions?

A: Rocket eBook comes with two "default" fonts. The small print is set at 10-point, and the large-print font is 14-point. However, you may use the RocketLibrarian™ program (which comes with the Rocket eBook) to set either font style or size to any font you have on your computer. (Maximum size is 28-point)

Q: What kind of other documents can I read on the Rocket eBook?

A: In addition to books the Rocket eBook will support, newspapers, and magazines. The Rocket eBook also allows you to read your personal documents such as: HTML, Word Documents, and ASCII text files.

Q: Can I read a RocketEdition using other devices ? (i.e., Palm Pilot, CE Devices, Laptops, etc…)

A: You can read unencrypted content on the PC using eRocket.

Q: Can I download a book to a computer not connected to the Rocket eBook and transfer the files to a computer that is connected to the Rocket eBook?

A: Yes, this is possible. The individual RocketEditions are stored as separate files. These files can be moved from one system to another via any medium (i.e., Floppy, Zip, etc..).
